Russell attends the COP28 Conference in Dubai, in his capacity as Chair of Scottish Business Network, and speaks about Scotland's own climate champions - Net Zero Nation. Launched at COP26 in Glasgow, with the support of Scottish Business Network members, NZN has achieved remarkable results. Russell was delighted to visit the Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus, with two large floors set aside for the Climate Hub, to deliver a talk about the power of such initiatives.
"Today I will present at the Climate Hub sharing insight on the progress of Net Zero Nation, Scotland's leading business accelerator for carbon reduction and our international plans. I will be joined by a few Scottish voices as we provide insight into the broad range of Climate innovation in Scotland and link this with opportunities here in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Heriot-Watt University has provided the perfect example of how we can utilise Scotland's assets to the benefit of all by making their facility available to the public, private and education sectors. Collaboration in action must always be recognised and encouraged."

"Over the last 24 hours, I have been bowled over by the enthusiastic support of the Scottish community here in Dubai. An idea for a casual gathering over drinks quickly developed into evenings bonding with over forty prominent members of the Scottish community. I took the opportunity to officially appoint Robert Bruce as our latest Ambassador. In addition to possessing the most Scottish of names, Robert is also incredibly well-connected across the UAE and Saudi Arabia."
