UN Panel Discussion on 'Resilience and Rebuilding: MSMEs for Sustainable Development'

MSME Day was designated by the United Nations to raise awareness of the crucial role of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises in the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. This year it falls on 27thJune 2022 with the theme of “Resilience and Rebuilding: MSMEs for sustainable development at the forefront of building back better and stronger from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crisis and conflicts".

“MSMEs account for 90 per cent of businesses, 60 to 70 per cent of employment and 50 per cent of GDP worldwide. This year’s MSME Day workshop marks the fifth anniversary of General Assembly resolution. It is jointly organized by the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the United Nations, DESA, UNCTAD, ILO, ITC,UNIDO and the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).” - sdgs.un.org

The hybrid conference at the UN in New York will focus on how purpose-driven MSMEs and social entrepreneurship are integral to inclusive recovery and growth and to combating inequality. The panel discussions will see women and youth-led start-ups as well as global leaders highlight the gaps, progress and challenges that entrepreneurs continue to encounter and how we can better support and assist them to flourish.

As Founding Chair of the Scottish Business Network and Founding Director of the Net Zero Nation, Russell Dalgleish is honoured to share his experience in utilising a global network to support smaller companies achieve international success.
