On the 14th November 2022, GENGlobal's 'Global Entrepreneurship Week' kicked off, you guessed it...across the globe! GEN Global is a global movement active in 200 countries, working with entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, public bodies and support organisations.

2022 marks 15 years of Global Entrepreneurship Week with GEWUK celebrating entrepreneurship through events, activities and competitions taking place across the nations of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.

"Join us as we celebrate all those entrepreneurs who risk their own capital, time and energy in creating solutions to change our world for the better. I must also highlight those mentors who give up their time, open their networks and dedicate their energies to help entrepreneurs succeed. Thank you all, your efforts are greatly appreciated." - Russell Dalgleish, GENUK's National Director Scotland

This year's theme is Grow With Purpose and every day throughout the week has a different key focus:

  • Mon 14th Nov | Female Founders
  • Tues 15th Nov | Research, Policy & Ecosystems
  • Wed 16th Nov | Diversity, Equality & Inclusion
  • Thurs 17th Nov | Entrepreneurship Education
  • Fri 18th Nov | Innovation & Sustainability
  • Sat 19th Nov | Internationalisation
  • Sun 20th Nov | Founder Mental Health, Wellbeing & Self-Care

The Official Launch Day for GEW UK 2022 in partnership with NatWest took place at Bishopsgate Conference Centre, London and was a roaring success. On 15th November, GEN UK held a UK-wide, entrepreneurial ecosystem builders, virtual roundtable discussion bringing together policy makers, enterprise educators, accelerators, business networks, community platforms, investors and enablers. The event explored best practice from across the UK, invited questions and meaningful discussion, and connected ecosystem builders to transfer knowledge and solutions between the regions.

The roundtable discussion was chaired by Josh Armstrong, GEN UK's Higher Education Advisor and joined by guest speakers:

Jerry Allen - GEN UK's National Director England & Director of Entrepreneurship at UCL

Russell Dalgleish - GEN UK's National Director Scotland & Co-Founder at Scottish Business Network

Russell Dalgleish was delighted to participate in the panel (virtually from South Korea!) and the event's conversation inspired this post on why "Entrepreneurship is not a solo activity".
